FAI 118 Annual Conference, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The International Air Sports Federation (FAI) held its 118th General Conference from 19-21 November 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the event was hosted in the Middle East since the Federation's founding in 1905. Coinciding with the "Sand & Fun" Airshow, the conference gathered experts and officials from over 90 member countries to discuss the development of global air sports, exchange knowledge, and honor champions of aviation competitions. This milestone event highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing aviation sciences and reinforcing its leadership in the aviation and air sports sectors.

Border Area Conclave

The Border Area Development Conclave was successfully held on 11 September 2024, at the Manekshaw Centre, NewDelhi. This pioneering event addressed critical issues related to infrastructure, communication, education, and tourism, fostering collaboration among various stakeholders led by Indian Army, Defence and Tourism Ministry to connect remote regions and unlock their potential. The conclave explored innovative solutions and strategies that aim to uplift border areas, driving growth and development for a brighter future. It served as a significant platform for meaningful dialogue and actionable insights towards empowering India's borders.

NIMAS Gorichen Dual Ascent

A team from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) achieved the first ascent of the previously unclimbed 20,942-foot Tsangyang Gyatso Peak in the Gorichen range of Arunachal Pradesh. Overcoming extreme challenges, including sheer ice walls and treacherous crevasses, the team named the peak in honor of His Holiness the 6th Dalai Lama, Rigzen Tsangyang Gyatso.

Kargil Vijay Diwas 25 Year

The Artillery Regiment proudly commemorated 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas, honoring the decisive role it played in India's historic victory during the Kargil War in 1999. The Regiment's firepower and precision were instrumental in neutralizing enemy positions at high altitudes, showcasing unparalleled bravery and technical expertise. The silver jubilee celebrations paid tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and the indomitable spirit of soldiers who served during the conflict. Events included solemn wreath-laying ceremonies, a showcase of artillery prowess, and interactions with veterans who shared their experiences from the battlefield.

General Rodrigues Memorial Lecture

The Indian Army hosted the inaugural “General SF Rodrigues Memorial Lecture” at the Manekshaw Centre on the 90th birth anniversary of Late General Sunith Francis Rodrigues, former Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Governor of Punjab. The event featured a keynote address by General Manoj Pande, COAS, and a lecture on “Changing Character of War and Firepower” by Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd). The forum honored General Rodrigues' remarkable legacy, including his service as COAS from 1990 to 1993 and his contributions to Indian artillery and military leadership.

NATEX K2K

The Indian Army Adventure Wing honored the 'Kargil Vijay Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav' and the centenary of the 'Bombay Sappers War Memorial' with the NATEX K2K Microlight Expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and the NATEX K2K Microlight expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Paramotor Expedition from Kibithu to Kutch. These initiatives paid tribute to fallen warriors who overcame immense odds, celebrating their sacrifice, courage, and honor. The "Parvat se Sagar Tiranga" journey symbolized India's unity and resilience, saluting ordinary citizens who became extraordinary soldiers.

Delta 5 Artillery Regiment

The Delta 5 Motorcycle Expedition, organized by the Indian Army to mark the 25th anniversary of India's Kargil War victory, covered 10,000 kilometers across India. Starting from Dinjan, Dwarka, and Dhanushkodi, teams converged in Delhi and proceeded to Dras. The expedition, a tribute to Kargil War soldiers, Veer Naris, and veterans, was flagged off by General Manoj Pande from the National War Memorial and Brigadier BD Mishra from Leh. It featured three teams of eight motorcyclists, along with Army personnel, Veer Naris, ex-servicemen, NCC cadets, and students.

Nagaland Offroad by Nagaland Tourism

Blessed with incredibly beautiful but challenging terrain, a land that is steeped in authentic tribal culture, Nagaland is all set to emerge as The Offroading Capital of India. Nagaland Tourism has embarked on a first-of-its-kind initiative to promote Offroad based Tourism. With an aim to spread the tourism footprint beyond the known hubs of Kohima and Dimapur and capture the vibrant landscape and unique culture in the interiors, Nagaland Offroad is the one-stop-shop for the discerning traveler who relishes exploration and the sheer experience and unadulterated truth of remote area travel.

Telo Moyo Hang Gliding

The Indian Hang Gliding team, comprising six pilots and one manager, showcased incredible skill and determination at The Telomoyo Cup 2024 (23-28 July), earning the Best Team Trophy in the Novice category! With 33 pilots competing across five teams in Senior and Novice categories, Indian Army team's outstanding performance secured a podium finish, proving the power of teamwork and perseverance. The prestigious trophy was presented by Mr. Ersy Nuzul Firman, General Secretary, FASI.

Telo Moyo Para Gliding

The Telomoyo Indonesia Cup 2024 Paragliding Competition soared to thrilling heights from July 30th to August 6th, bringing together paragliders from across the globe to showcase their incredible skills. Team India took to the skies with determination and grace, competing fiercely for the top spot. The week was packed with breathtaking action, celebrating the spirit of adventure and sportsmanship!

Har Shikhar Tiranga

Har Shikhar Tiranga initiative brought together mountaineers, adventurers, and patriots to scale peaks across India and proudly unfurl the Indian Tricolor on every summit. This nationwide campaign symbolized unity, determination, and national pride, as participants from diverse backgrounds joined hands to honor the country's spirit. From the lofty Himalayas to remote regional summits, each ascent celebrated India's resilience and showcased the dedication of its citizens to reach new heights, both literally and metaphorically. The initiative not only paid tribute to the nation's glorious heritage but also inspired a new wave of adventurers to carry the Tiranga to even greater altitudes.
